In our day-to-day lives, there’s a common saying that goes, “the ends justify the means.” However, as believers, we’re called to play by a different set of rules. It’s not all about the outcome; it’s about sticking to what’s right, even when it’s tough or might cost us something.
Proverbs 21:3 tells us, “To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” This verse hits the nail on the head: God really cares about how we act and make decisions. He values our integrity over our success. James 4:17 adds to this by saying, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” Keeping it real means always choosing the high road, even when it’s steep. It’s about being honest, fair, and sticking to our principles no matter what.
Thinking long-term, like storing up treasures in heaven as Matthew 6:20 suggests, is key for us believers. We have to keep our eyes on eternity with every choice we make here on earth. Every step we take matters in finishing our race strong. Galatians 6:9 throws in some encouragement: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Let’s aim to make God proud in everything we do, trusting that His plan is best and His rewards last forever.
Living with integrity is like holding up a mirror to God’s character and shining His light for all to see. Remember, it’s not only about where we end up but also how we journey there that really matters.
By choosing to live with integrity, we reflect the love and care that God calls us to embody. Let’s be intentional about our actions, knowing that each decision impacts how we finish our race. Our ultimate goal should be to honor God in all we do, trusting in His eternal rewards.
